Mosquitoes in the House: How to Find the Source
Check screens, doors and garage openings, then look for water in vases and saucers. Here’s how to find where mosquitoes in your house come from.
Check entry points
CDC recommends maintaining screens and keeping doors closed. Include patio doors and garage openings in your inspection.
Note whether mosquitoes appear near one entrance or throughout the house. A pattern helps distinguish an entry issue from an unidentified indoor source.
Inspect accessible indoor areas
Vases and flowerpot saucers can hold water. CDC also identifies dark, humid resting areas beneath sinks and furniture. Inspect accessible places without dismantling building systems.
If identification is uncertain, take a clear photo. Not every small flying insect indoors is a mosquito.
